Now I’m working on more mixed media pieces (ya know, since things went so well with the other one).
The first one is almost done, and the other I just started working on. :]

These two pieces were hanging in the art gallery at school. “The Barn” and “Home”.
The bottom received an honorable mention, was bought by CMU, and is now hanging in Lansing somewhere. (Pretty exciting stuff.)
I am so freaking excited to be back in the darkroom tonight!
Oh wait, I do know why.
Just a tiny update of my life: Because I’m in the BFA program here at school, I have a full faculty critique at the end of the semester of work that I have been doing. (PS. I’m sort of freaking out at the moment because of this little anti-creative thinking spell that I have been under lately has really effected my photographizing.) But I finally talked to one of my photo professors - might I add that she is freaking awesome! - and I’m on my way to something pretty sweet, hopefully.
My project part 1 is a series of photos of empty seats; seats that range from picnic tables, benches, random chairs. They also are all very public places where people should be in. It’s to emphasize loneliness of people because at least when I look at a secluded bench, I think of sitting alone, and there’s a sort of sad feeling in it. I want to do the series in either cyanotype (because of the blue) or just a digital print (maybe black and white?). I was thinking of doing VanDyke process but that’s the one process I still need to work on, and I want to focus on something that I am pretty good at, and that’s cyanotypes… I know they’re pretty easy, but I just love doing them.
My part two focuses on insanity (like normal). I want to touch on what I have been feeling in my own mind and that’s been I’ve been feeling pretty clouded, and sometimes I have almost felt like I was pushing my mental stability and just going on auto pilot sometimes….
But I suppose that could be a story for another time.
Well, now that I feel like I’ve typed your “ears” off, I will bid you a good day.
There will most likely be some posts up later of my darkroom adventures!
But for now, here is a picture of what started this “Benches” project. (Taken in Brianshead, Utah on top of a rather tall mountain. July 2012)

I am on a roll! Two posts in one day! :D
As promised, here is the finished work of my prints… you know, the ones that made my hands all black. (Yeah some of that still embedded into my hands…).
Enjoy!
Man I suck at this, I just need to stop being so busy.
Anyway… I’ve been trying to get back into the whole art making thing, and slowly but surely it’s starting to finally happen. I feel like myself again! *quiet cheers of joy*
Printmaking has been taking over my life, but I don’t mind it. I’ve also become the shop monitor for our print shop. Pretty exciting, except for the fact that I now have no time… at all. Oh well,
Life of a college student right?
Well, it’s time for me to go out side… gotta love observational drawings. But I will leave you with this, a picture of me after I finished my project 2 prints. It’s not art unless you get messy :]
I have decided I wanted to do this thing where I actually remember to update my blog each day. (We will see how this works once school is set full speed).
Today… let’s see. So far so good. Started a little late, but my first class was Drawing 3. I know a bunch of people in the class, so it’s pretty sweet. Not to mention my “BFA Buddy” Rebecca is now in both of my studio classes… so this will be one pretty freaking awesome semester! Yay collaborating with another awesome artist!
But for now, I will leave you with a picture I took while I was in Utah.
I know it’s been a while, with summer vacation and me working close to 40 hours a week - I haven’t had a chance to update virtually anything.
But, I finally got to go to the Detroit Institute of Arts (I know… it’s a shame it has taken me this long to actually go). I had such a fantastic time with my mom… and it was freaking awesome being able to get my Art Geek on. So I figure I should share my spoils with you fine folk. :]
I was able to find a camera lens mug, some photo paper that develops with water, a print of a Degas, and a van Gogh, another Degas print (postcard), and because of the amount I spent (which wasn’t too bad) I received a full book of Degas and his artwork of the ballet.
Yeah, just a little excited! :D
Oh, and there will be pictures from my summer posted when I move back to school!
This is my final project for Drawing II.
I wanted to re-create my nightmare drawing from my second fall semester. Instead of incorporating different nightmare images, I decided to keep it more simple and uniform - showing only shadow figures tormenting the girl. (I will post the original “Nightmare” pictures soon.) The girl pictured in the bottom, being attacked by the nightmare was influenced by Fading Away, a 19th century photograph by British artist Henry Peach Robinson (I am writing a research paper about this photograph… it’s rather interesting. I, again, will post some of my findings).
Materials: Charcoal, graphite, watercolour paint
